Art of Sexuality: Zanele Muholi - Visual Activist

Thursday 23 March

Time: 7.30pm

Cost: £6 for one, or £15 for the series

Zanele Muholi (b. 1972) is a photographer and self-described 'visual activist' whose work - encompassing documentary, video, portraiture and publications - draws attention to the experiences of the LGBTQ community in contemporary South Africa. This talk considers her practice in the context of identity politics in 20th Century photography, and looks at ways in which it functions as an advocate for change today.

Emma Lewis is an Assistant Curator at Tate Modern, and works on the Tate's Africa Acquisitions Committee. Her specialism and background is in photography.
